Description: The Award Ceiling for Year 1 is 0 (none). CDC anticipates an Approximate Total Fiscal Year Funding amount of $10,000,000 for Year 1, subject to the availability of funds. The NOFO aims to build and enhance resilient, integrated, and sustainable health systems in Kenya. It will build on HIV program achievements on treatment and prevention while aligning with Kenya’s vision of universal health coverage and ensuring sustainable impact beyond its funding period. It will work both at national and county level to focus on strengthening leadership and governance; enhancing health financing systems through domestic resource mobilization and social health insurance; and enhancing the healthcare workforce capacity and ensuring commodity security. It will promote integration of HIV services in the broader healthcare systems ensuring there are no siloed systems while improving efficiencies through innovation in health systems. The NOFO will enhance laboratory quality systems for diagnosis and management of HIV/TB. The focus will be to increase access and timeliness of laboratory services while improving the laboratory-clinical interface for result utilization. Strategies to achieve this include optimization of diagnostic networks; enhancing equipment multiplexing; strengthening sample referral systems; comprehensive quality assurance programs, and continuous quality improvement efforts; use of laboratory information systems to improve data management, result reporting, tracking of patient outcomes and integration with national health information systems. Adherence to biosafety and infection prevention guidelines and standards will be promoted.
