This grant is for small and medium-sized businesses.
An EV infrastructure grant gives you money off the cost of wider building and installation work that’s needed to install multiple chargepoint sockets.
The work can be for sockets you want to install now and in the future. For example, an EV infrastructure grant can cover things like wiring and posts.
The grant covers 75% of the cost of the work, up to a maximum of £15,000. You can get:
up to £350 per chargepoint socket installed
up to £500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure
You can receive up to 5 grants across 5 different sites.
You can apply for the electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure grant if you’re a business with 249 employees or fewer.
You must be either registered at Companies House or VAT registered with HMRC.
Your property must be in the UK. You cannot apply for this grant if the property is in the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.
The chargepoint can only be used by the building’s staff and vehicles. It cannot be used by members of the public.
You must install at least one chargepoint socket as part of the work
You must carry out work on at least 5 parking spaces, so they either have chargepoint sockets or are ready to have them installed in the future.
Each parking space must be:
off-street, private and clearly defined - it does not have to be part of the property
owned by you, or be one you have the legal right to
You must use OZEV-approved installers and chargepoint models:
You are allowed to receive up to £315,000 in minimal financial assistance (MFA) over 3 financial years. This includes:
state grants
subsidies
any other government funded financial incentives
Any paperwork you receive for such payments will state clearly that it is minimal financial assistance (previously de minimis or small amounts of financial assistance) state aid.

In claiming this grant, you must not exceed £315,000 in minimal financial assistance over the last 3 financial years. Three financial years means the previous 2 financial years and the current one.
If you are a public authority you are not required to make a de minimis or MFA declaration during the application process.
The grant cannot be given if the installation of the chargepoints and / or infrastructure was a mandatory requirement. This includes:
buildings under construction or being renovated where the Part S Regulations applies on or after 15 June 2022 (for England), for example, for single domestic dwellings with an associated parking space and for non-residential buildings with more than 10 car parking spaces
devolved countries where there are similar regulations as for England, for example, the Building (Scotland) Regulations from 5 June 2023
where there was a planning application condition mandating the installation of chargepoints and/or infrastructure
Installers are advised to check with their customers that the proposed installation is not a mandatory requirement.
As the property owner or manager, you must:
assess potential fire risks
be ready to act on the risk assessment and put in place and maintain appropriate fire safety measures
You must ensure that these measures are maintained.
The grant provides small and medium-sized businesses money off the installation of electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints and supporting infrastructure for their staff and fleet vehicles.
Funding is confirmed until 31 March 2025.
The grant is open. The government reserves the right to end or change this grant scheme. If the grant ends or the grant amount changes, the government will:
aim to provide 4 weeks’ notice
honour claims made before any public announcement, subject to the grant criteria
complete any necessary upgrades to the building’s electrical supply
arrange regular maintenance checks of the chargepoints
decide how the electricity and running costs will be paid
make sure the chargepoints are accessible
update your property’s risk assessment to include the chargepoints
You must use an OZEV-authorised installer.
You should only install OZEV-approved chargepoint models.
To apply you need to create an account on the OZEV Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grants portal.
You will need:
an email address
a UK mobile phone to get a security code
a Companies House company registration number or a VAT registration number
If you’re a linked enterprise, you must apply using the company registration number of your controlling company.
To start a claim, you should include:
one address
one installer
your installer’s OZEV installer number
how many parking spaces the work covers
Your installer will then complete your claim
You can apply for multiple sockets at the same address.
If you’re using more than one installer or applying for more than one address, submit a separate application for each one.
Your installer will claim the grant on your behalf after they’ve completed the work.
They’ll give details of your chargepoint to OZEV, along with photographs of the installation and an invoice.
OZEV will send you an email to sign into your online account and review the claim.
If you do nothing, the claim will be submitted to OZEV as it is. If it’s incorrect, you’ll have a week to respond - you’ll be told how to do this when you review the claim in your account.
If OZEV approves the claim, the grant will be paid to your chargepoint installer who will take the amount off your bill.
Your invoice will show the total installation cost minus the grant amount.
In some cases, OZEV may choose to audit your installation to check it meets the grant requirements. If they do, OZEV will arrange for auditors to contact you for a site visit. If you do not allow a site visit, OZEV may withdraw your registration.

If you have an issue with a chargepoint or an installer, you should first try to resolve this with the installer. If you are not able to resolve the issue with after 10 working days you should email OZEV at chargepointfeedback@ozev.gov.uk.
